The simple way to avoid high costs

Frequency converters with energy recovery

Frequency converters with energy recovery deliver a substantial reduction in energy requirement in all applications in which the slowing of large masses by braking occurs frequently: for example, in hoisting applications, centrifuges, or conveyor belts. This is because, unlike in conventional drive systems, the braking energy generated is not eliminated by means of braking resistors, but instead is fed back into the supply grid. By using this smart infeed technology, energy savings of up to 50 percent are possible, for example, in hoisting applications. Components like line reactors and braking resistors are made superfluous and the power consumption required is reduced by about 20 percent. Space requirements for the drive system are correspondingly lower and heat development is reduced. We can supply converters with energy recovery capability for switch cubicles and with a high level of protection for distributed use.

See for yourself just how great the cost-saving potential can be when you use energy-efficient drive technologies in specific applications. And find out just how fast the payback time is for an investment in a specific application, using the following calculation as an example:

Hoisting drive in a high-bay racking system

Calculation example, energy recovery

Valuable energy is lost whenever a braking resistor is used. This is illustrated especially effectively if you consider, for instance, the case of a hoisting drive for high-bay racking units. The comparison between a standard converter and a converter with Efficient Infeed technology – which feeds the braking energy back into the line supply – speaks for itself.

Energy costs reduced by: 52 percent

Space saving: 77 percent
