Gates

Gate areas vary in size between airports, however they all have one thing in common – they are only used for certain times of the day. When gates are not in use, energy is wasted, running heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and lighting for example.

Using a number of different measures, Siemens ensures energy is saved in this area:

  1. CO2 measurement can be used to detect periods of low occupancy. Therefore, lighting and ventilation can be reduced saving electrical energy and reducing heating and cooling loads.

  2. Integrating the passenger management system – a short period before the gate is staffed and the boarding systems running, ensure the HVAC and lighting systems run at full capacity – all controlled centrally without manual intervention.
