Port Configuration Tool
With the Port Configuration Tool (“PCT”), the STEP7 Engineering possesses a powerful software for the parameterization of Siemens IO-Link master modules and IO-Link devices. S7 PCT is integrated into STEP7 from V5.4 SP5 on and is called via the hardware configuration of the IO-Link masters. In addition to this version integrated into the STEP7 Engineering, a separately installable 'stand-alone' version of the S7-PCT program is available.
All IO-Link products available from Siemens are already present in the hardware selection catalog of the Engineering. Certified devices from third-party providers can be integrated quickly and easily into the Engineering by means of their device description file IODD.
Through the Port Configuration Tool, parameter data of the IO-Link devices can be set, changed, copied and saved in the STEP7 project: In this way, all configuration data and parameters down to the device level are stored consistently.
The S7-PCT stand-alone version enables an easy use of IO-Link with the distributed I/O system SIMATIC ET200 – also in control systems from third-party providers (without STEP7).
Function Block IOL_CALL
The function block IOL_CALL increases the programming and parameterization convenience in the IO-Link Engineering with the following attributes:
(Re)parameterization of an IO-Link device while in operation
Reading of additional information from the IO-Link device (e.g., diagnostics, maintenance)
Execution of IO-Link port functions
Storing and restoring of IO-Link parameters when replacing IO-Link masters or devices
Utilization of the FB1 "IOL_CALL" for replacing IO-Link masters and devices without a PG
The function block IOL_CALL can be used to read any data object from IO-Link devices, store these objects power-failure-proof and write them back to the IO-Link device by means of IOL_CALL after replacing an IO-Link device or master.
The call of the function block IOL_CALL and the non-volatile saving is to be controlled by the application program.
