I/O Modules

Description

I/O Modules K20

Using the IO-Link K20 module, up to eight binary sensors may be collected outside the cabinet and connected to an IO-Link port over a three-wire connection. This means significantly less wiring overhead and more space in the control cabinet.

IO-Link K20 modules are particularly suitable for applications which previously employed passive sensor boxes for the connection of binary sensors. The use of passive distributors with respectively laborious and fault-prone wiring is thus eliminated.

Product-specific IO-Link advantages

  • Cost-favorable connection of binary sensors to the control via IO-Link¬†

  • Use of parameters also for binary sensors (e.g. parameterizable NC/NO and input delay)

  • Reduced wiring and thus minimized risk of wiring faults thanks to the elimination of passive distributors

  • Optional transmission of diagnostics messages (e.g. overload sensor supply)

  • Application also possible under harsh ambient conditions (degree of protection IP67)¬†

Details

The technology of the IO-Link K20 modules extends the IO-Link beyond a pure point-to-point connection and creates distributed structures. It must be considered that the cable length of an IO-Link connection restricts the distance between an IO-Link module and the master to max. 20 m.

For the connection of binary sensors, the IO-Link K20 modules are available in versions with 4 or 8 digital inputs. The sensor connection is realized via M8 or M12 connections and connection to the IO-Link master is established via a standard M12 connection line.

Applications

  • Connection of binary sensors in all fields of production automation

  • Replacement of sensor boxes due to use of IO-Link K20 modules
